Parent council backs plans for new Burntisland school

Members of Burntisland Parent Council have given their whole-hearted support to the Fife Council proposal for a new school to be built on the Toll Park.

After years of debate as the current school buildings deteriorate and the roll continues to rise, the Parent Council stress that a new school is needed now.  The new school offers vastly improved facilities for all of Burntisland, and will provide the best educational provision possible for the children of this town.  In a growing town the proposed new school will be able to accommodate the future growth of the town in one school, rather than in a number of buildings spread over Burntisland.

The present school is now almost full to capacity and will struggle soon to accommodate any new intake.

The Parent Council stress:

  • the new school will be a community school with increased classroom space, a larger nursery provision and sports halls
  • the Toll Park is the best site available for the whole community of Burntisland
  • lengthy consultation and consideration of a number of other sites has taken place over the last few years
  • the Toll Park will remain an area for community use and enjoyment with improved sports and play area
  • the £12.5 m public investment in the town available to build this school in its entirety is vital in a stringent economic climate
  • the well being growth and prosperity of the town requires a successful 21st century education solution
  • the Parent Council urge interested parties to support this for our children’s future

You can complete the consultation form online on the Fife Council website before Friday 11th November.

Hi, Just a quick comment re the Toll Park ...I have an official letter from the Scottish Government re the potential development on the Toll Park ...the council cannot use this land unless they prove it is not currently in Use as a Green Belt recreational area...and if they do decide to build on it they have to replace it with the same amount (size) of recreational green park area ...now how are they going to do this ...best Place for new school ready for development is the Red Pond Site ...ps this will not delay the building off a new school actually the opposite site surveys have been done on this piece of land ...call me on 01592 870 131 if you want a copy of this letter which I will be forwarding to fife Council...
